(I ended up putting slim black tape over the Blaupunkt name and model # to make it even more factory generic looking) So now, I have a "stock looking unit", as that was very important to me. So here is a Before and After Picture of my newly installed Blaupunkt New Jersey 220BT in my 1999, replacing the OEM Bose Head Unit CD/Cassette, and reusing the Bose Amp, connected with overpriced aftermarket Clearwater Audio CWC-8B Bose compatible 8" Speakers Crossover Tweeters setup.

The Blaupunkt Head Unit cost ~$150 (NoTax, FreeShip as of Feb2016), and install kit had a ~$10 Net cost. Crutchfield supplied the exact removal / install kit I needed: Their installation gear is no longer free, they call it the "deeply discounted installation gear" and gave me a $50 credit on ~$60 of "install gear" (I bought an additional upgraded 'wire harness connector kit' …). This was my first stereo install, and luckily, I found quite a bit of info here, internet/youtube, and the support that came with my Crutchfield purchase, (had to figure out the black ground wire tap, and the blue to bluewhite to green wire tap). I REALLY wanted to maintain an "OEM Look" with my stereo, I HATE those flashy Disco Ball Las Vegasy Lighted up units that I see on the market: They just scream - "Break In and Steal Me!!" I leave my top down 95% of the time, and don't always put my top up when I park in safe areas, as I have a top-notch alarm system, with that 'radar' option that protects the interior even when the top is down… I used their graph to help with my new EQ settings: it's nearly impossible to get any kind of real spec sheet info from the previous Bose OEM head unit and speakers. Based on their suppled Data sheet graph, their CWC-8B speakers seem to have a ~88/89 db sensitivity, and a useable Frequency response of about ~45Hz to 20kHz. Since I had already spent that money, I decided not to rip them out and replace, but rather to 'integrate' anew. My old Bose unit was only used for CD play and NPR radio, so I was able to tolerate its' aging for all these years.Ī few years ago I replaced the old Bose speakers with the Clearwater Bose replacement door speakers, the CWC-8B package, their 8" speaker speakers crossover tweeters combo units. So far, I am quite happy with it: Subjectively, I would call it 'twice as good' as the old unit. Also for: New orleans 220.I decided to do the partial Bosectomy and replace my the OEM Bose Head Unit in my '99, with the Blaupunkt New Jersey 220 BT - Double DIN Unit.
